Microneedling / Skin Pen

What is Microneedling?

Using the SkinPen II, microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally-invasive cosmetic procedure that can improve the appearance of your skin. Microneedling uses fine needles to create tiny punctures in the skin, which stimulates the body’s natural healing process and results in the production of new collagen and elastin. Microneedling can be used on the face, neck, chest, back, and other areas of the body, and is effective for scars, wrinkles, sun damage, uneven skin tone, stretch marks, lax skin, large pores, and thin skin.

Microneedling

Best Candidates

Microneedling is safe for most people, but there are some risks and side effects associated with the procedure. These include infection, bleeding, bruising, and swelling. Microneedling should not be done if you have an active skin infection or acne flare-up. If you have a history of keloids or hypertrophic scarring, you may not be a good candidate for this procedure.

Results and Recovery

Microneedling is a minimally-invasive procedure, and there is little to no downtime. After the procedure, you may experience some redness and swelling, but this will typically go away within a day or two.

Prior to using the SkinPen II, a numbing cream is applied to the area being treated. The procedure itself takes about 30 minutes. Afterward, a soothing gel or mask is applied to the skin.

Microneedling results are often seen after the first treatment, but for best results, a series of 3-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart is recommended. Microneedling is a safe and effective way to improve the appearance of your skin with minimal downtime.
