Best Candidates

The best candidates for a rhytidectomy are generally non-smokers in good health, with realistic expectations about what the procedure can achieve. Neck lift surgery is not an appropriate solution for everyone, and there are certain risks associated with the procedure. Your surgeon will discuss all of this with you during your consultation.

Neck Lift Procedure

Neck lift surgery is usually performed as an outpatient procedure, which means you won’t need to stay in the hospital overnight. The surgery itself takes about two hours, but you may be in the surgical facility for four to five hours total when you factor in prep time and recovery from anesthesia.

The most common incision placement for a neck lift is just in front of the ear, extending into the hairline behind the ear. Through this incision, your surgeon will access the underlying muscles and tissue. Once the necessary work has been done, the incisions will be closed with sutures.

Recovery

After your surgery, you will need to take it easy for the first week or so after your surgery, but most people feel well enough to return to work within 10 days. You should avoid strenuous activity and exposure to sunlight for at least six weeks.
